Well, a slight one.
Midmorning today the GC contacted me - supplies have been ordered, won't be here today. So no one was coming. I ran a couple errands (saving the wal mart run for first thing tomorrow morning, when it's less swamped) and then came home, changed out of my "outside" clothes, and set up in a cooler part of the house (The living room, unfortunately, gets warmer than the rest, being on the west side of the house)
My bedroom stays cooler. Especially now when I've moved everything away from the vents. When I go to put stuff back I'll have to consider that and try to leave them free. (I do have a big old Papasan chair I never use - I'm too ungainly for it now - that I want to get rid of, that will free up some floor space). Anyway, I set up the book (that's "America's Public Lands: From Yellowstone to Smokey Bear and Beyond" (second edition) that I'm currently reading. Leopold the Leopard has plastic pellets in him so he can weight the book and hold it open.
It's a really good book. A very comprehensive and readable history of public lands, including National Parks and National Forests (and others, I'm sure, I'm just not to them yet). I didn't even know there was a "Sagebrush Rebellion" back in the 1940s; I'll have to incorporate that into this year's class. I knew of the 1970s and 80s version, and of course the Bundy family version of it in recent years, but I didn't know about the 1940s version. (Apparently it disbanded pretty quickly)
I was also able to add a few more rows to the garter-stitch blanket while I read; it helps me stay focused to have some kind of simple knitting but there has to be some way to prop up the book and keep it open.
