Week's almost over

Yesterday was just long. 4:15 pm meeting, 6 pm meeting, 6:30 pm meeting that lasted past 8. (The last meeting was MOSTLY retired people; I think they sometimes forget that people still working full time have set bedtimes).

At least today when I got home a bit before 4, I was done for the day.

I added a few more rows to the Incunabula sweater; I think I'm to the point now where I increase a little, and then get to divide for the sleeves.

Tomorrow I just have one class. I did start on writing a little bit on the eventual paper from last summer's data, but right now writing is hard - I badly tore my right thumbnail and the pressure of holding a pencil hurts, so maybe I will just do some reading for now and start thinking about it. Since I can't travel over spring break (Amtrak cut back their runs, and the return trip had no available roomettes left), I plan to put in at least a couple days working on that; it would be good to have another manuscript to go out this summer.

Saturday I am going to either go to Denison for "fun" shopping, or Sherman to go to Target for some things that are easier to get there, and then maybe over to JoAnn's for "fun." Our caseload is FINALLY starting to drop and I"m doing the calculation whether it might be okay to go to my favorite barbecue place and, if they're not busy, actually eat inside. It's hard for me to know. I'd hate to get a breakthrough case after having been so careful for so long - but also, someday I have to start trying to live a little again; I don't think I can happily go the rest of my life only eating carry out restaurant food.

I wish there were a decent shoe store. I need new dress shoes and I don't love the idea of ordering off Zappos and hoping they fit and don't give me blisters. But I don't really know of anywhere - I think the Dillard's in the dead mall is still open, and there's a Kohl's, but I'm not sure either of those would have what I wanted. (I have to be careful - I have flat feet and I pronate so I need a good supportive shoe or my hips start to hurt. I had been buying SAS brand but the store that sold them closed).

If I knew of a place that wasn't a big-big city but that had decent clothing and shoe shopping, I might plan an overnight over spring break - drive there, stay in a hotel overnight, and get some new clothes and shoes to replace the stuff I've been wearing for years now (and the shoes really are starting to fall apart). I don't do Dallas traffic, so that's out - same with Oklahoma City. It would have to be a smaller place.

Before that though, I need to consider my birthday the end of this month. Unless the weather is bad, I want to do something - maybe take a trip to the yarn shop in Whitesboro. (It's not much. I know. I never do much, though some years in the before-times I did more).

I find I have a really hard time sometimes remembering what I did for fun in the before-times. Two years of barely circulating in the world have removed my ability to plan or figure out things to do. I am going to need a "fun coach" if I'm going to try to do fun things again some day. Maybe we all will.

It's too early in the semester for me to be this tired, though.
