Some big news

My mom called tonight. She couldn't get FaceTime working (and when I called her on it, it didn't go through, so I don't know what's up with her iPad). But it was just as well because I admit I teared up a little when I heard the news.

She has a vaccine appointment on Friday to get her first dose of the anti-COVID vaccine.

It's at the senior center in her town, which is easy to get to and has ample parking. One of her friends had the appointment the other day and she said that they made the second appointment when you got the first vaccine - and also they give a numeric code you have to tell them to prove it's you and you're the one who got the call.

I am greatly relieved. I was more worried about her than I was about myself - she is 84 and while she is in excellent health (perhaps better than me), still, she's **84**.

I'll probably sleep better now. I had been worrying about it, and was sad and angry I couldn't do more to facilitate her getting an appointment. (It is truly silly that so much of the country is trying to get seniors - some of whom don't use the internet, some of whom can't afford internet access or a computer - to sign up over the internet, ESPECIALLY using dumb buggy apps like Event Brite or Sign Up Genius).

But it's taken care of now. Finally my mom's county wised up and realized that they needed a phone list for people who didn't use the Internet.
