I got Manateed!

Manatees are sort of an ITFF thing. I think it grew out of someone who had a typo in a document, where "mentee" (the person you mentor) was written as "manatee." But then the Calming Manatee tumblr became a thing, and so now "manatees" are shorthand for "I wish you peace and calm.

It's a nice thing.

I came home today and found a package on my porch from someone in Florida. I didn't know who it was and at first I thought it was maybe a VERY delayed Pony I ordered (I may have to argue with that seller again, don't know if they ever sent it, though also - I'm considering just letting it go, I ordered it back a couple days before my dad's death and I'm not sure I have the energy to fight over $9 or whatever, and also, another ITFF friend has offered me her childhood Ponies, including a sea-pony, which I don't have yet).

But anyway. I opened it - a bereavement card and then what looked like a fish toy for cats. And I was like "What? ITFF knows I don't have a cat" and then I kind of unsquished it and....aha, crocheted manatee:

I may name the manatee paperkingdoms after the person who sent her to me.
