Glad I'm home

Food has been obtained for the coming week to ten days.

I got a really cute blue-purple-and-pink stuffed cat at Five Below for the "$5 gift for a child" thing we do at AAUW. I got tissue paper for my swapner's gift and a card to go with it. And a couple little surprises for another friend....just have to verify their address. And yarn for the toy cat.

And these, for myself:

Very hard to take a webcam shot of your own feet but that is a pair of slipper socks with Stitch from Lilo and Stitch on them. (They were on an extremely good sale, the last pair Books a Million had). Yes, I have lots of these kind of things but they are just nice to have - they are good to protect my feet from the hard floors but also are good for warmth and comfort when it's cold.

But I'm glad to be home. Three suboptimal things:

1. Two dudes at the natural-foods store, apparently both on the Keto type died (carts full of nothing but beef) blocking the aisle and giving me an ugly look when I politely said "excuse me" and then being oblivious in ANOTHER aisle and not letting another person through. Ugh.

2. A couple (man and woman) arguing in the Kroger - arguing vociferously enough that at first I was worried about it coming to blows, and then as I heard more detail, I was like "Please don't let this be some stupid psych-experiment thing where it turns out we're all being played and they want to interview all of us about how we "felt" or why we didn't step in or something equally stupid.

What were they fighting over?

What brand of frozen french fries to buy.

(Facepalm).

Every time I feel bad about being single and alone, something happens to remind me there are worse things. Yes, I get that most couples either like the same brand of fries, or one member is like "I know you feel strongly about it, and I don't really, so get the brand you prefer" (Which is probably how I would be, unless the brand my honey liked was truly awful, and then I'd probably just opt not to eat them)

3. Trying to get onto the interstate was hard. Friday 4 pm traffic. The place where I tried to get on, there are three lanes but if you can't get over into the middle or leftmost one, you wind up HAVING to exit. And there were aggressive drivers, including a large rock-hauler type semi, and they were all bunched up and especially the way the semi was driving, I wound up just getting tracked onto the exit. It wasn't SO bad - I just kept going on the service road until the next onramp and managed to get on there, but.....a mile or two down the road there was an accident, a rock-hauler semi was off in the median, it looks like they had to swerve and, not exactly jackknifed, but close, and maybe they clipped another car? Anyway, cops were on the scene but it didn't look like there were any serious injuries. If it was the same semi driver and he was driving a bit too aggro, I hope the cops cited him...

I guess I just have to expect to see an accident now every time I go out on the interstate there. It's been getting steadily worse though luckily with Pruett's I don't feel the need to go to Sherman quite as often any more. (There's also some construction coming that may relieve some of the issues, and there are things I can do - like getting onto the service road as soon as I can and just using it like a "back road" to get around - that allow me to avoid the worst of it).
