Currently working on

I always have a lot of projects going, and of late, I've probably spent more time faffing online in the evenings than I should.

I do want to get back to working on quilts more. I got all the "right angled" blocks ready for that "tilted nine patch" quilt I'm doing - I decided to do them all first, then stitch up the "sashing" on the left-angled blocks and THEN cut them, so I didn't (a) mess up and cut ONE block going the wrong direction and be stuck with an asymmetrical quilt or (b) so I knew I had roughly equal numbers of right- and left- blocks in each color combination (red, orange, yellow, green, blue). I want to sit down with a pad of paper and figure out a color scheme - maybe go one "color ramp" (red through to blue, rainbow style) with the right-leaning ones, and then the opposite color ramp (blue, green, yellow, orange, red) with the left-leaning ones, since the blocks alternate. I don't know. I know I don't want to have to put a lot of thought and agony into the layout, because the layout is a big limiting step for me. (I still have two quilts' worth of blocks I need to lay out, but no room at home. On a good sunny day I could probably mow my backyard and do it back there, or I could go down to the church on a Friday or Saturday afternoon and use the floor in the Fellowship Hall, but overcoming that little bit of inertia is difficult).

I also keep running across patterns I want to do, or stacks of fabrics I've put together. Sometimes I wish I could magic my plans into reality without having to put in the hours of sewing on them....

And I have the quilt-in-the-frame that I want to finish so I can do another....

I also have Spitfire (the Pegasus) partially done; her head and body are complete and I started the front legs. I confess I keep wanting more ponies - I do want to make a modified Dr. Whooves to be Sunburst (Starlight Glimmer's friend). That's gonna take some pattern modding though (hair is different, unicorn horn needed, Sunburst has a little beard) so I think that's a summer project.

And I still admit I play around with the idea of G1 to G4 versions - a Surprise with corkscrew curls, maybe a G4-ized Heartthrob (a pretty all-pink Pegasus) or a G4-ized Waterfire. Again, I have way more ideas than I have time....

I have some socks on the needles, too - I started a super simple pair of Opal socks for knitting-while-reading-environmental-law-stuff. The colorway is "Rotkohl" - red cabbage. And yes, the colors pretty much look like it. (I like Opal even more know that I know a little German; I find myself looking up the actual names of the colorways and seeing if I know what they are).

And I have a pair of Hermione's Everyday Socks still on the needles; I need to finish that first sock and start the second.

And my invigilating knitting (nearly to where you put the sleeves on holders!) is the Grasse Matinee pullover. And I still do need to finish the sleeve on Hagrid, but it seems (again) hard for me to overcome the inertia on that.

Since I just finished a quilt my brain has been what I call "quilt brain" for the past few weeks. I pulled out all of my old half completed quilt projects and my brain is of course wanting to start new ones too. ACK! I saw this cool one from MSQC yesterday called Rising Star Quilt Pattern that I reallllly want to make, but I can't justify it until I work down my WIP pile. At least my quilt wips. *sigh.

I would be willing to trade some squares with you tho if you wanted squares. perhaps if you know anyone else who would want to exchange squares we could do something? No. I am NOT trying to make you organize something, but if we got a couple people together I would initiate something...

I enjoy the actual quilting part of quilting but I quickly get bored with cutting and piecing. I finished two quilts just before Christmas and still don't have another ready to quilt and I'm craving some quilting but can't seem to make myself finish another top.
