Working on Sylvie

But first: Charlotte, good thought. The women's group at my church is doing a "shower" for the local Crisis Center (women and children's shelter) in June and I was planning on buying diapers for it, or some other kind of "consumable" item (I know they were grateful when we gathered up shampoo for them once). So maybe I use part of the gift card for that. Feminine hygiene items would be a good idea as I bet few people think of that. (I also read about someone who brought packs of tube socks - just the basic athletic tube socks you can buy by the dozen - to a shelter and the people running the shelter were overjoyed, because clean new socks are something badly needed but rarely thought of)

I have the front legs done for Sylvie and decided it was probably easier to put the (permanently attached) field boots on them before I attached the legs. Wow, doing cobblering for a doll is a challenge! Especially for a pony, which has wide but very short feet. The boots don't look THAT much like my field boots; I'm hoping when I put in the laces (I bought red perle cotton special for the laces), that it will maybe look a little better.

Edited to add: Proof of concept on the field boots. (I have to get onto making the back legs now):

I've also been knitting some on Antarktis; this is not that far from being finished. It's one of those small asymmetrical type shawls. I think my next shawl is going to be more traditional in design - perhaps the Scottish Thistle stole I've had the pattern and yarn on-hand for for years.

I've also done some more sewing on blocks for the current top I'm working on (that's why I knew my roof was leaking yesterday; I was in the room when it happened so at least I was able to move an empty trash can to under the leak and catch the water, even though it's tiled floor over concrete in there so water on the floor is not that big a deal). I think the NEXT top is going to be to use up one of my Layer Cakes; maybe the wildflower one I've had for a good long time and it will just be done as simple squares with white sashing. (I used a lot of multicolored sashing but I have to admit there's a crispness to just plain white that is especially nice with the mostly-primary-color prints in that Layer Cake).

It's turned  a lot colder here all of a sudden; we might get a frost tonight and another one tomorrow night.
