* Well, not unusually early in how I normally do things, but it FEELS early because I hadn't been getting up early to work out (because of the heat) and I started that up again today. Yeah. My body doesn't like doing "March with me!" or "Let's wash some windows!" (two of the warm up moves on the video) so well first thing in the morning. But it's the most convenient time to work out and is really the only time unlikely to get co-opted by some issue
*BUT: the air conditioning unit is working fine, as of now. It cooled the house to the set temperature, shut itself off, came back on when it warmed back up. And the guy is coming Friday to put in the replacement valve. I'm hoping he calls today so I can tell him, "Just come on out Friday morning; if I don't answer the phone when you call it means I'm out mowing the lawn."
* It's still humid out. But it's less humid in the house than it's been in a very long time. As I said: if you live in a humid climate, a whole-house air conditioner makes more sense because it is actually successful at removing humidity from the air.
* Someone at church who was facing serious surgery came through it fine. We have to wait to see how successful it was. And we have a new budget for next year, and the hope (at least) of someone we can hire on a permanent basis. And we voted to do a major bit of roof-replacement, fortunately we were able to scrape enough money together for it. Like all too many small churches these days, we have chronic money issues. (Then again: storing up a huge stock of money is probably counter to the mission of a church. Then again, if we had more members and took in more money, I know we'd do more outreach, and it would get spent on helping people)
* I need to get back to a schedule of doing some knitting or sewing each evening again. I'm pretty much done with evening meetings for the summer (Well, there will be July Board meeting, but that will be it). I keep thinking about the Hagrid sweater and how I want to get back to that. And now with the bifocals I can read charts more comfortably and also with a cooler house working on something wooly is a little more appealing.
* Even as I have about a dozen unfinished projects, I think about new ones. Like, I want to make a fairly plain pullover sweater out of sockweight yarn, maybe in a nice yellow. (No, I shouldn't buy more yarn, not until I've used some up, but then again, I don't have enough of a yellow.) And at any rate: I have the yarn for Starbuck (sort of an ice blue and a cream, for striping) and for another striped sweater kit I got several Christmases ago from KnitPicks. And I want to do more shawls. And a cabled vest like the "tank tops" British schoolkids wear. (I have yarn and pattern that will be ideal for this). And, of course ALL THE AMIGURUMI - I have yarn for Cheerilee (someone on Ravelry gave me the pattern for my birthday), and for Filly Trixie, and for Discord, and for a Baby Groot, and for a Maud Pie, and I also have yarn set aside because I'm hatching the idea of doing a G4-style pony of Minty. (Minty was an earlier generation character. She started out as a white pony with shamrock marks, but evolved into a mint-green pony with a pink and white mane, and a wrapped mint as her mark. Also, in one of the later generations - I think 3.5? - Minty was a silly pony who was obsessed by socks. And I kind of like the idea of having a sockpony and then maybe using some of my leftover sockyarn to knit her for (mismatched, probably) socks for her to wear. (it would be easy; they would be tube shaped and not need heels). I am going to do Cheerilee first because I suspect there will be enough leftover of the light and dark pink yarn from her to serve as a mane for my Minty.
And I want to make more hats and mittens for the charity effort a friend is doing....I have one hat done and one in progress and I need to get my backside in gear and faff on the Internet less and knit more, because honestly, as much as I love the internet, in the long run, knitting in the evenings will make me happier than faffing on the internet will.
But first, I want to:
* Finish the Baymax stuffie (Does it count as an amigurumi if it's not an animal? Supposedly the word amigurumi comes from "stitch + animal"....)
* Dig out Hagrid and do some more on it
* Maybe finish the vest that's on the needles (the striped Noro vest....I think I'm about up to the divide for the v-neck on the front)
* Finish a pair of cabled socks I've been working on
* Finish the current giveaway hat
* Dig around and see what stalled projects I'm forgetting. (The Rickenbacker shawl will become my new knit-and-invigilate project for this summer; it's simple enough and easy to carry around)
