A small truism

There's a hypothesis floating around out there on the internet:

"Adding a Yackety Sax soundtrack automatically makes anything funnier."

For example: the much-beloved-by-me llama chase video (Rewatched it, still found it funny). And an homage to it (not the actual music, probably for copyright reasons) has been used a couple times in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

But here's a test. First, is a video of Robot Fails (you can think of them as "outtakes from the DARPA challenge"). This made me laugh even as I felt kind of bad for the robots' programmers/inventors.

But then, add the Yackety Sax soundtrack:

Okay, I admit when I was watching this last night I was pretty tired (and when I'm tired, things get a lot funnier to me), but I was laughing hard enough to cry a little at this. And yeah, I still feel a little bad for the robot inventors - I can imagine how disappointing having a failure like that can be - but dang it, it's pretty funny.
