Two good things

1. My colleague - the one whose land I wanted to use as a sample site with my class, but who was out of town - is back. Coming back with the class after today's lab (tree sampling), I saw a VW wagon and thought, "Hey, that's Tim's car."

Indeed it was. He and his wife were hanging out in his office so I poked my head in and asked if it was okay for me to take them out there next week. He said "Sure" and his wife laughed and said, "It's hot out there!" I responded: "It's hot EVERYWHERE." (And it is. Heat indexes in the low 100s starting today. I'm not ready for it, I was getting really short of breath from the humidity in lab and I wasn't really exerting myself ALL that much.)

2. Even better - came home to a message from my doctor's. They got my bloodwork, and the nurse said the doctor wanted me to know that "everything looks good." I know that seems like a small thing but to someone who is a worrier like me, it's HUGE to know that all my numbers are where they should be, that my cholesterol or fasting blood sugar haven't spiked up. (A rare side effect of the anti-hypertensive I am on, it can increase some people's risk of Type II Diabetes)

This is the first doctor I've had where the let you know the results of "before the fact" testing - all others made you wait until the appointment. (She may remember how I was unduly worried over the last bloodwork. Or maybe she's just that awesome of a doctor.)

And another thing, since on some corners of Ravelry people say "Pictures or it didn't happen" - I present to you my clean fridge.

clean fridge

a. Yes, I keep my bread in the fridge. Yes, it dries out some but it goes moldy before I can finish it otherwise.

b. Yes, I keep the Tums in the fridge. There is something about the fruity scent that brings ALL the ants to my house (as I learned from sad experience), so I just keep them in the fridge now.

You also can't quite see that one of the crisper drawers is totally empty and waiting for a time I can get somewhere with better produce. (I have cauliflower and spinach on hand, and also raspberries and blueberries. Of the fresh stuff.)
