Somehow, in the formatting/conversion to .pdf format, they:
1. de-italicized a lot of the scientific names of species, which is not how it should be
2. Lost a paragraph indent (that's not a big deal and if it's not fixed I won't care)
3. Screwed up some other formatting in the tables
As I do not have Adobe Acrobat, only Reader, and apparently the one person my chair knows on campus who has it is sort of a dragon (and not a Spike-type dragon, more like a Smaug-type dragon), I didn't want to try asking them, "Hey, even though you barely know who I am, can I come hang out in your office for about an hour while I edit a document on software you bought?"
So I used the "mark and notate" feature in Reader to highlight all of the things that needed to be changed, and I also delineated them in an e-mail to the editor. I sent it on with the note that I was going to be leaving town in a few days, so if there were further problems, could I please be told as soon as possible?
Well, the e-mail I got back was:
"Thanks, Dr. (fillyjonk), I am sure our production editor can handle all of that"
So that's one more thing off my mind. Just a little more grading, syllabi to make, lunch, post office, and piano today. (AAUW party was moved to Monday, which is so much better for me.)
