Or something? There's supposed to be a big, bad winter storm in the Dallas area tomorrow, and it looks like its worst effects will continue at least through 6 am Monday. (And I'm guessing East Texas, where I'm supposed to be driving, may see those effects later on).
I really don't want to spend Thanksgiving here but that may be what happens if it's too unsafe to drive to the train station. (I COULD change my tickets for Tuesday, but....I suspect the train is 100% full up, and I'm not sure if I'm up for traveling in over-packed coach). The weather is supposed to improve Tuesday...
I'm telling myself it's not a big deal, that I can bake a chicken or something and stay home and watch the Macy's parade and knit. I'm telling myself thousands upon thousands of people spend this holiday without family and it's not a big deal. (But this will be the first time for me).
Best case scenario: the storm speeds up (or slows way, way down), or it warms up midday Monday to melt everything before I have to drive but I am not sanguine.
Currently, NWS says for my area on Monday: "Snow, freezing rain, and sleet likely before noon, then a chance of
rain. Cloudy, with a high near 36. East southeast wind 5 to 7 mph
becoming north northeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is
60%."
And to where I'm driving: "Rain likely, possibly mixed with sleet, becoming all rain after noon.
Cloudy, with a high near 36. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of
precipitation is 70%."
That 36 is important. If we get up there by noon things should be okay. And "all rain after noon." As long as it's not freezing, I can manage.

I hope you will be able to travel on Monday but if you end up staying in Oklahoma, is there anyone you could invite to share a meal with you? Perhaps someone from your church or even from school who would otherwise be alone. If they had plans to travel, they might not get to go either because of the weather.
