ETA at end
I guess this shows my level of commitment: I came in early, before the dentist, just to be sure no one e-mailed me overnight with questions for the exam (no one did).
I don't know what happened with the crown. It's a few years old, it's metal, so I suppose the cement could have just let loose. I'm just hoping it's undamaged and they can just cement it back on. Brushing teeth last night wasn't fun, taking deep breaths where air curls into my oral cavity isn't fun, drinking water isn't fun.
I didn't eat breakfast this morning and am sincerely hoping I'll have time to grab something before my 9 am class (or that the repair takes long enough that the 9 am class becomes moot - I asked the secretary to cancel it if I wasn't back). I'm kind of shaky from not having eaten and I feel more tired than I should.
I've already told myself that it will be okay to stop at one of the local donut shops and have a donut (something I normally don't ever eat any more, for various reasons) if there is time after getting the tooth fixed.
I did sleep okay, at least I didn't have too much pain from the exposed tooth. (Thank goodness I had braces as a kid and no longer sleep with my mouth open like I used to). I guess I was thinking about medical stuff or danger or something because I dreamed I had broken my nose, and it was a few days before I could get it surgically set for some reason, and I was having to walk around being really careful, afraid of bumping it. I will say that facing the dentist in the morning isn't as bad as waking up and momentarily thinking, "Crud, I have to go in for surgery in a day or so" and then realizing it was a dream, that the only thing wrong with you is something fairly minor.
Stuff like this seems to happen at the worst possible time. If the crown had pulled out a bit earlier, when the dentist was still in, I would have been good. If it had happened tonight rather than last night, well, my first Thursday class is not until 9 so I'd probably be good. But today, I have to be back and on top of things because it's fieldlab day in the afternoon, and it's hard enough scheduling vehicles without having to cancel for stupid reasons.
ETA: Repair accomplished. He didn't even bother to numb me. It hurt momentarily when he dried the tooth but the crown was undamaged and he just cleaned the old cement out, put new in, and jammed it back on.
However, that was an expensive caramel; it was a $35 co-pay plus whatever my insurance will wind up paying.
Oh well. I am now quickly eating a blueberry donut and a container of milk,.

I'm glad it was a quick fix and hope the doughnut was good.
