When I look at my sockyarn stash, sometimes I am disgusted with myself.
But sometimes I find myself thinking, "If civilization comes to an end, at least I will have warm socks*."
I really, really do have a ton of sockyarn. Well, probably not a literal TON....I suppose if I wanted to I could count up 100 g lots (usually sockyarn comes as either 50 g or 100 g balls, and usually women's socks take 100 g or thereabouts) and calculate how much ACTUAL weight I had. Then again, I'm not sure I want to do that.
(*Though the more realistic portion of my brain hastens to add, "But if civilization comes to an end, cold feet will be the least of your problems." As I've said before, if civilization really went bye-bye - as in, no more electricity ever, and you have to raise/hunt/barter for all the food you eat, and there's no tp or tea or chocolate or new magazines - I'm not sure I want to be one of the survivors.)

Maybe you'd be able to barter your warm socks for some of the other things you'd need.
I do believe Charlotte has the right idea.
