"Hitchhiker" in progress

Or: I do still knit.

hitchhiker scarf in progress

I'm not quite half done (well, I have half the spines, but as the scarf grows wider as you add to it, it's not actually half knit) on Hitchhiker. I like how the variegated yarn is working up with this.

I've also been working away this morning on the Sea Pony. And I washed some odds and ends of quilt fabric, some of which I will use pieces of in the hexagon quilt.

I generally pre-wash, except for pre-cuts like Layer Cakes. There's a little disagreement in the quilting community whether prewashing is "necessary" but as I grew up in a time when you could walk into a fabric store and smell the sizing and other various outgassing chemicals (I think formaldehyde was one). That's not so much any more, but I do prefer to get out any sizing or excess dye when I pre-wash.

It's still humid out but it certainly LOOKS like we might get storms. There's a small chance almost every day this week and I hope we get at least some rain...I really don't like the drought summers, for many reasons.
