a little update

well, on the tax-fu.

Dude got it sorted. I sent in more money than I had to, even without itemizing deductions (I could but I haven't in the past. I suppose if I could get a letter from my church supporting the quantity I give in a year, and take the letters Mercy Corps and places send me, I might be slightly ahead of doing the standard deductions....but I never did because I always feared Schedule A was the Royal Road to an Audit).

And apparently I am not liable for the AMT though they claimed so in the letter. So nanny nanny boo boo.

No idea if the IRS will refund me the overpayment or not, but whatever. It's done, they can't come at me saying I cheated (I didn't; whatever screwups I committed were due to ignorance and their obscure directions).

Next year I am going to these people from the get-go....sure, it's expensive to have them do my taxes, but the wear and tear on me, and getting back a day and a half or so of my spring break is probably worth it. I can organize the papers and stuff, that's not a big deal, and then let them crunch the numbers.
