The first of the pair. These take a long time because of the complexity of the pattern, and because they require a lot of concentration to do.
Apparently the best way to capture the bas relief of a twisted-stitch pattern is to use late afternoon natural sunlight, and no flash.
And a side view. It's all done with cables.

Of the ponies I've gotten recently, she is my favorite. (Though I have to admit the Apple Bloom minifig is awfully cute, and I hope they come out with sets with the rest of the CMC)
