I'm trying hard not to be critical, because I'm sure someone thought it a good idea and some are enjoying it but....a full day of "symposium" talks, some as panel discussions, some as individual talks, over a wide range of subjects....well, I'm kind of burned out on listening and I have another full day of it tomorrow. We really didn't get much in the way of breaks...I think there was one morning break when a talk finished up early, and we got 45 minutes for lunch....but it was just so much information on so many different things with really no time to digest. My brain is not happy.
I have promised myself if I make it through this without getting called out by the dean for leaning over and making a snarky comment to my colleague sitting next to me, I will go to the new JoAnn's store this weekend. (The JoAnn's store nearest me moved into an abandoned Circuit City store, and it is close to twice the size of the old store. So I am hoping to find lots more cool stuff, not to mention a cleaner nicer store - the old JoAnn's always seemed kind of dusty and dingy somehow).
And heck, here's a knitted thing. The pair of Elves and Fairies socks I finished over break:
I didn't bother to try matching the color striping, even though I would have had enough yarn. I'm not sure if this colorway is supposed to represent an elf or a fairy, or even if Opal thought that hard about it when they were planning the colors.
These are just simple socks, made with my "standard" French heel and star toe. They have 2 x 2 ribbing for the cuff and 7 x 1 ribbing down the leg. I do want to wash these before wearing them as I'm afraid the dark dye might rub off on my feet if I don't.
