* I finished a pair of "simple" socks (The "Gentleman's Winter Stocking" from "Vintage Knitted Socks") but haven't kitchenered the toe of the second sock yet. Pictures will be forthcoming.
* I've also been picking away at the Little Ice Age socks, but I find doing lots of "tight" (close together, and 1/1 crosses) cables burns me out after a few rows, so I can only do these a few rows at a time. I've finished the first repeat for the leg (there are two total).
* I also pulled out the Big Purple Rectangle again because I needed some simple knitting, and the abovementioned simple socks were already all done. I might need to start a new pair of simple socks...
*I also have yarn I (probably) want to knit into just-simple socks. Lisa Souza Dyeworks was doing a fundraiser where you could buy a skein of specially dyed yarn, and she would donate the proceeds to an animal-rehabilitation center near her. The center focuses heavily on helping horses, and the yarn she was offering was called "Appaloosa." While the colors aren't EXACTLY Applejack colors, they're close (and they're what they'd probably be if Applejack were a "real" horse and not a horse from a pastel cartoon world). So I think I want to start knitting on these....it's been a while since I just did "simple" socks from a hand-dyed yarn.
*I also think I've decided on the next "big" quilt project...I bought the Tula Pink quilt book (I had gotten an Amazon gift certificate in exchange for completing a survey). While some of the quilts in the book are not ones I think I'd make, I like the one called Cloudy Days. A while back, after I first got the book, I bought a large piece of Kona cotton in a grey color for the background (the original quilt used a silk fabric, which makes a nice rainy sky effect, but I'm not spending the money for silk...). I have a lot of turquoise and yellowish-green prints I'd been saving for quite a while with no plans of what pattern to use, so I think I will use this one. My quilt will be scrappier than the one in the book, because I have more different fabrics but smaller pieces of most of them (the big raindrops take quite a lot, but I think I have big enough pieces of eight of the fabrics to make them. If not, I can always go out and buy a half-yard or so of something that will work).
*So far, no hives. So maybe the Singulair is working. It does give me a bit of dry mouth and a slightly runny nose at times (both "minor side effects" were mentioned). I hope I don't develop any "you need to stop taking this now" side effects, because I didn't really realize how miserable the hives were making me until I was free of them. Also, the next health-thing I attempt - but I think I'll give it a couple weeks to let my body adjust to the new meds - is to find an internist and get my blood pressure checked for reals. The dental hygienist gave me a stern lecture about my blood pressure being "dangerously high" (well, the lower reading was approaching 100, which is pretty bad), and when I went to urgent care it was still high....but I don't know how much of that was that I was feeling crummy otherwise (and at the urgent care, I was seriously freaked out by the mouth hive). But if I do have high blood pressure....well, that will be more meds, because I already exercise and eat fairly healthfully and I'm not sure what else I can do (short of starving myself for a couple of years to "get your weight in line with guidelines") to stop it.
I REALLY hope the doctor doesn't go, "Nope, no Singulair for you, because of your blood pressure" but I don't think that will be the case. (And of course, I could be borrowing trouble - it could be that after getting the hives under control, the blood pressure will go back down). Because, choosing between constant hives and high blood pressure is not a choice I want to make.
As I said before, I kind of dread going to new doctors because I never know if I'm going to get a stern lecture about my weight when I go in for something unrelated, or if the doctor wants to aggressively treat some condition that other doctors would less-aggressively treat.
Also, and I know I shouldn't feel this way, but I always feel kind of like it's a "failure" somehow when I can't control something like that with lifestyle. (As I said once before: "I have so much willpower otherwise, why am I not a size 6?"). I don't eat much salt, I exercise, I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, I don't eat a lot of red meat....It again raises the spectre of Your Best Just Isn't Good Enough that periodically haunts me.

I didn't see anything that says this drug is contraindicated in the case of hypertension, or that it reacts with any of the major antihypertensives.
I did, however, see that the patent expires this August, so perhaps there will be lower-priced generics to come.
Would it be possible for you to ask that PA who gave you the Singulair for a recommendation to an internist? That would probably result in you finding a doctor who has a similar approach to medicine.
