The next quilt

I had had plans for a while to do a simple, strip-based quilt using a packet of pink 2 1/2" strips.

the next quilt

I cut the strips (it's very simple cutting) on Sunday, but couldn't get motivated to start sewing on it just yet. Part of it is that my sewing room is at the end of the "chain" of ductwork (and has only one duct) so it gets hot in there when it's hot out. And it's hot out now.

The quilt should be a quick quilt once I get going on it, and I was surprised to find that for a small twin, the way the pattern works, it only took 13 of the 40 strips. So I think what I'm going to do with the remainder is to cut them to random lengths and sew them back together and do part of the back strip-pieced rather than "saving" them for some other project I might never do. (The pattern as originally written had you make two versions of the top and put one on the back, but when you have stuff long arm quilted, you can't be that precise about backing positioning. And the backing has to be 8" bigger than the front in both the long and wide dimensions...)

I'm also not 100% convinced I'll keep this one; depending on how I feel about it when it's done, it might wind up being a project Linus quilt. One of the fabrics is very clearly a "baby" fabric....

I didn't sew on the quilt last night. As I said, it was hot in that room, and I was also tired because it was the first field-lab for ecology. (yeah. In the summer here, it's either raining or it's 105 on the days when I have lab...). So instead, I dug out the mint green acrylic I'd had sitting around, and a size G hook, and started on another Pony. (Lyra, this time.) You'd think I'd have the pattern memorized but I do not. I did get most of the head done last night. (What really takes a long time? The legs. Because there are four of them, and because they're a small diameter, they're kind of a pain to crochet up).

I think I'm hitting the "Meh" part of the semester. I'm going to have to reach deep down for the motivation today.

This is just an idea... Don't feel like you have to use it. But I have a box fan in rooms that get the least amount of AC due to ductwork. It seems to help move the airflow just a leeeetle bit more.
