socks, socks, socks

I finished the "Mountain Moss" socks last night. I really, really like this yarn - both the colors and the fabric it makes. It's a Cherry Tree Hill yarn, a merino, and it has that nice, almost cotton-like feeling that merino has.

I also like that it's striping. Of all the patterning/handdyed yarns, the ones that make stripes are my favorites.

I also worked some on the new Jaywalker socks:

The beauty of the Jaywalker pattern is that those zigzags would be plain stripes if I were just knitting the socks plain...the increases/decreases at different points in the pattern row causes the striping.

I also started yet another pair. I won't be taking these on Spring Break with me, because they are an intended birthday present for my mom. I'm doing the Caledonian Mists pattern with these. I had originally thought of doing the Jane Brocket cabled sock pattern, but then I ran across the copy of Caledonian Mists I bought in my files, remembered it was a nice pattern, and thought it would look good with this yarn. Also it knits up faster than cables do, and is less bulky to wear in shoes.

I also finished the left-front of Ropes and Picots and got the right-front (including all the fiddly bits with the provisional cast-on - I'm up to where you start the patterning now, which is simple and straightforward) begun.
