Getting a head

I finished the crocheting on the head for Fluttershy last night.

pony head

So far, I'm pleased with how it's turning out. The shape of the head is a pretty close 3-D approximation of the 2-D cartoon pony. (I'm going to wait to do the face until she is all assembled, so I can get better ideas about where the eyes and everything need to go).

This project pleases me. When I was a kid, this is the kind of toy I liked...the imaginative aspect of being able to pretend she was "flying." If, as some physicists suggest, there are infinite numbers of alternate universes out there, perhaps there is one in which I am 7 years old, the current (2011) run of My Little Ponies is on television (I was too old for the earlier runs of the show - and anyway, there was very little character definition between the ponies, as I remember, not like the current show) and I had this toy, I could imagine myself some fall day running through the old fields next to my parents' house, holding Fluttershy and pretending she was flying all over Equestria looking for animals to help.

Sometimes it's good to remember what you were like as a kid.
