(Well, I was happy enough earlier today...especially after my student's joke about "Yahtzee"...but I'm extra happy now).
I went and picked up my quilt after lunch. It looks SO. GOOD. The snowflakes were the perfect design for it, and the quilter got them just the right size. I had her use "natural" colored thread so while you can see the snowflakes, it's subtle, and they don't clash with the pieceworked pattern.
The young woman (I think she must be a co-owner; at any rate she seems always to be in there when I'm shopping) said that after it got done and the quilter hung it up, several people commented (positively) on it, and a couple even asked if they could BUY it. (She grinned at me and said it was fun to tell them that it was not for sale.)
(So maybe I shouldn't feel so forlorn about my simple little novelty-fabric quilts. And at any rate, this one really does make me happy).
I bought a small chunk of a dark teal "marbled" fabric to use as the binding. I didn't have anything immediately in mind and the fabric just jumped out at me as one that would be pretty to use. I'll have to wash it up to get it ready but possibly I could get the binding on on Sunday...I am eager to do it because I'm so happy with the quilt and I want to be able to curl up under it as soon as it turns cool enough to want a quilt.
