In opposition to the usual tradition, I'm going to start by showing what I worked on "last" - the object in-progress.

These are the socks I'm tentatively naming "Redheads should not wear pink." The pattern in the Weasley Homestead pattern I've talked about before here (hence the reference to redheads). I really like this pattern; it's simple without being too boring to knit and it looks good knit up.

Especially in a yarn that isn't so wildly variegated that it obscures the elongated rib stitch:

The yarn is from a company called Creatively Dyed Yarns. It's color number MSE2. (I guess they don't use cute names for their yarns like a lot of people do. I find it easier to remember a "named" color than a color code or number.)

(Actually, speaking of color code, I'm kind of surprised there isn't a yarn dyer out there that uses the HTML code numbers to describe the solid color yarns s/he dyes).

And I know this photograph is dark, but it's not often that you can see the actual structure of an eye-of-partridge stitch heel. Usually the stitches kind of melt together and look more or less like stockinette, but here you can actually see the little "eyes" formed by the staggered slipped stitches.

I find this kind of thing extremely pleasing. It's a little detail but it's just so nice.

Another thing I did yesterday was to clear the Easter decorations off of my mantel.

house teapots

I found yet another house teapot - I stopped in a small antique shop in Mineola next to where I ate, just for fun, and there it was (it's the one with the pink roof in the center). It's funny how once you accumulate two or three of something, you kind of look out for more of it. (I might buy one more - if I see one that I like - but I think I'll stop after that. I think this is enough for a little display).
