Fieldwork is done. I will say that was one of the more miserable mornings of fieldwork I have passed. I got rained on three times and the temperature was probably in the 50s. And the soil was so saturated that it gunked up the sampler and I had to stop and clean it out between each sample.

But it's done. And my commitment-to-myself to do an hour of SOMETHING involving working on research each day is fulfilled for today. (Actually, it took two hours, so I could justifiably not do anything some day in the future...)

I am glad I did it today; they're predicting thunderstorms tomorrow (when I had originally planned on doing it) and if the soil takes on any more water, it would be impossible to collect as samples. (As it was, I'm doubtful how good my results will be because of the degree of saturation.)
