Anonymous: thank you, I did not know H1N1 was going to be a live-virus shot. That does affect my way of thinking (I presume that means it's possible to contract the disease from the shot, like how flu shots used to be).
I may go get the drugstore seasonal-flu shot next week (when I have time) because the seasonal flu is already showing up here. And if there is a push to get H1N1, I will want to have the seasonal shot out of the way.
I've already had students calling in sick with the "flu" - though whether it's seasonal flu, "stomach flu" (which is going around here), or an excess of partying/underage of sleep, I don't know. I do know there are no official cases of H1N1 on campus yet, and they're trying to keep it that way.
All the doorknobs and such in my building get wiped down with disinfectant everyday by our saintly custodian (seriously: he puts up with us, does all the extra duties heaped on him, and never gets irritated). The building smells like Lysol some days.

I cannot find a link to any reputable sites describing whether or not the H1N1 vaccine uses a live virus, but plenty of unreputable sites say so. I'm a little worried as yesterday my kids started school and came home with a notice about *possible* H1N1 flu clinics at their schools. Mass innoculations seem a little scary to me. Also, your insurance should cover any regular flu shot you get at a drugstore or pharmacy, according to my doctor. (I think I'll go that route this year, probably sooner rather than later. Much easier than my doctor's flu clinic last year...took way too long.)
