Score for today:
The good: I almost certainly have a piano teacher lined up for January. (She didn't have any openings now but is virtually certain she will have room for a new student then).
The bad: I got a journal article rejected.
Probably, in the long term scheme of things, the good > the bad, but right now, it feels like the bad >>>> the good.
I need to figure out some kind of new research project to do, that won't cost a mint in research funding, that won't get rejected from a journal once I write it up. Sadly, I don't think such a project exists.
I find academic publishing to be the MOST frustrating thing ever. It makes me feel incompetent like nothing else can.

Did they tell you why? Perhaps it's just what I've heard called "the inelasticity of type" -- a simple lack of space for more articles.
OK, I don't know enough about this, but couldn't you submit it to another journal, or doesn't it work that way?
