When I went out to the post office (it WAS books), it was kind of eerily still. I had never given credence to the "birds and animals KNOW a storm is coming" but since I heard no birds and saw no insects (and the wood-bees have been making short work of thieving nectar from my Abelia bush), I kind of wonder.
It's raining a bit now, no more than a drizzle, but I did see a city truck drive by loaded up with those pylons that they use to block off flooded streets and with the "emergency" stop signs used to remind people that a blacked-out stoplight is the same as a four-way stop.
They're still saying 1 pm. The Dallas weather-guy not given to hyperbole is saying 75 mph gusts in Dallas. I hope he's wrong. I charged up my cell phone just in case my landline goes out, and I have a nice battery powered LED camp lantern that's bright enough to read by, if it comes down to that.
They're also saying "No deaths reported from Galveston." Please, God, let that continue to be the truth...
