Heavier rain has started but it's not crazy-heavy. It's not even as heavy (right now at least) as the typical heavy rainstorm that comes with a cold front.
I guess we're going to get the very back corner of the storm, so most of the bad stuff is going to go east of us.
If we get any wind it looks like it will be late tonight. Calculating that it will come out of the northeast, even if we get very bad wind and branches come down on the roof, it won't be over my bedroom that they do. (But they're saying "Gusts to 36 mph" on weather.gov, and that's really not very much at all).
Things look worse than originally anticipated re: deaths in Galveston. Some of them may have been partly the result of recklessness. And it looks bad in parts of western Louisiana.
Channel 8 switched over to a football game midday so I guess they're either not too concerned any more or they had a contract for the game they could not break.
