Today is the day I've designated for breaking down the current experiment, washing alllll those little roots and shoots, and getting them in the drying oven. (I'll be glad when this is done - not only do I no longer have to worry about a deionized water source [ours is currently not working] - but it means I can get the last bit of data, analyze it, and hopefully be done with both Manuscript #2 and get the presentation done).
I find one of the best cures for I Has a Sad is to immerse myself in work. (Or maybe it's not a cure so much as a mere analgesic. But at least it keeps me functioning.)
Also, my brain sometimes does funny things to try to cheer itself up. Just as I was half-awake this morning, before really getting up and getting ready for the day, I was envisioning a new website: Cute Overload, in Amigurumi Form.
in other words: a lot of the conventions of Cute Overload, translated into crocheted or knitted toys. There are, for example, snail patterns out there. So you could have a "Snailio Iglesias." And you could do a teeny tiny frog out of embroidery floss (yes, some people crochet with embroidery floss, and it's really beautiful, but I fear it would be so splitty for me that it would be more curse-producing than anything). And you could make critters with "eye capsules." And of course all the kittehs and puppehs and bunnehs (or, I guess that's actually slipping into I Can Has Cheezburger lingo).
I think it would be funny, though - either as an actual website where people uploaded their flickr pictures that more-or-less matched CO! photos, or maybe as some kind of funny art installation where the "frames" were made to look like computer monitors, and there were little dioramas with the actual toy critter and a background and props.
I have all these wonderful elaborate ideas and no time to implement them...
