You know you've probably been working through a list of scientific names of lichens for too long when you see Ramalina and you start going, in your head:

"Rama-rama-rama-lina-ding-dong, Rama-rama-rama-lina-ding"

And heck, because some of you youngsters (or those not-so-youngsters who didn't "rebel" against "conformity" as a teenager by listening to music that was popular some 25-30 years previously) don't know the Edsels:

And a slightly more "animated" clip of the same:

(And you know, it occurs to me that my fondness for doo-wop - to which my friend K., if she is reading this, can attest was present when I was in high school - is due in part to the fact that my parents watched Sha Na Na when I was a kid, and in those one-television days, kids tended to watch what their parents chose. "Bowzer" is the only guy I remember from that show, but now that I think of it, that may have affected some of my musical tastes later on.)

Oh, and in case you're wondering:

pictures of Ramalina, and more

Did you ever see the Muppet version of this with a ram singing it to the other sheep?
