I know I'm kind of larding the blog with YouTube these days, but what a wonder it is - yes, there's a lot of drek but there's also some wonderful stuff.

Like memories of the past:

This is the first episode (so it says) of "The Kingdom of Could Be You" - a short they showed way back when on Captain Kangaroo. (It was made by the same people who did "The Most Important Person," another fond 70s memory - perhaps I should also link to a couple of those).

The thing is - I had TOTALLY forgotten about this short until I was watching some of the old "Most Important Person" bits and someone referred to it.

But now I remember. I remember the song! And the funny Ziggy-bird-thing! And the wizard!

And what optimism! What an (obvious, now) effort to be diverse! The whole thing practically oozes promise for the future.

(And you know? I still love it. I'm enjoying re-watching it, and not "ironically," either....the earnestness and hope just amaze me.)

A couple of favorite memories from "The Most Important Person":

"I'm Lonely." Makes you well up a little, doesn't it? (But I love the ending...and I think it saves it from being too saccharine).

"Why Not Try?" Yeah, I'm still a picky eater, despite having seen this probably a couple times a month from the age of about 3 until the age of about 6.
