I got all the "block" pieces (and about half the sashing pieces) cut for the next quilt.

I'm laying it out half at a time because I don't have a large enough expanse of bare floor anywhere in the house (well, without major furniture-moving, and I didn't feel up to that):

Here's a less-fuzzy close up.

The fabrics are mostly Kaffe Fasset prints.

It's just a simple pattern (I've sometimes seen it called something like "Cobblestones" in some books; the one I'm working out of calls it "Baker's Dozen" because you are supposed to be able to get all the "block" pieces cut from 13 fat quarters. Well. Maybe in the Magick Universe where everything works out perfectly and every fat quarter is precisely 18" by 22", but not in my world. So I think I've got bits of fifteen fat quarters plus some scraps of yardage I had in there. And the Kaffe Fasset prints are among the more expensive quilt fabrics so I'm doubly irritated by the fat quarters being just a wee bit smaller [but enough of a wee bit that I couldn't get all the necessary pieces cut] than what the pattern calls for.)

I started sewing the long strips together. I think I got four done this afternoon. The way I do this - I can't leave the thing laid out on the floor 'till it's done; it's my bedroom floor and I have to be able to walk there - is that I pick up each row and stack the pieces in the order they get sewn together, then I pin all the pieces together with a slip of paper with the row-number written on it pinned on top.

Tomorrow starts the summer semester. I'm thinking I will probably start posting in the evenings (or, more likely, in the late afternoon when I'm done with work for the day) so I can have the before-8 a.m. time free to get stuff together - I teach two back-to-back 75 minute classes (different classes) and so any prepwork I need to do for the second one has to be done before the first starts.

It's going to be a lovely colorful quilt. It will cheer you up in winter.
