Another way of staving off melancholy:

Thinking about new projects

skeins

"These are not the alpacas you are looking for. You can go about your business."

Heh.

This is the (slightly delayed, but through no fault of theirs*) birthday present from my parents - the yarn for the Kenobi jacket from the most recent Knitscene.

(I think, at 38, one is still permitted to say, "Woot!"?)

(*They ordered it from one place, and that place apparently LOST THE ORDER. And this was an order placed like a month before my birthday. So they had to scramble around and find somewhere else to order from days before my birthday. So the fact that it's only a week late is fairly good.)

This is one of those rare instances where I wanted the very exact same yarn - where I wanted my project to be as much a clone as possible of the original sweater. (Because - if it's not that chocolate brown, the whole Obi-Wan effect is somewhat diluted).

And alpaca. Alpaca is my favorite fiber - soft, warm, pleasant-smelling. (I had to snorgle * the yarn before putting it away).

I have already started the Greek Pullover (I should photograph how much I have done on it for tomorrow) but I sort of want to wind off the yarn for this and start it, too. (I hope it takes some needle size other than 7...all of my 7s seem to be in use right now.

i love how that yarn looks. very slurpable. there's a house builder commercial here where the builder is ken-wan obi. the future purchasers want all these extras, and they don't offer them. finally, ken-wan says "these are not the homes you are looking for." the couple gets this glazed look on their faces, and repeats what he says, except there's a glimmer of "dammit, why not?". funny if you see it, lol
