Here's the latest progress on the Central Park Hoodie:
Back is done, left front is done, right front just started. I finished the left front in a matter of days, which gives me hope that maybe the rest of this will knit up quickly. (I also have the sleeves, button bands, and hood left to do).
Perhaps it is time to begin thinking of buttons. I'm thinking of getting antler buttons, like I used on the Tilling the Soil vest - they're lightweight, they're a nice color (they will coordinate well with this yarn), and they don't cost the Earth.
Last night "Mythbusters" did a "Pirate Special." I didn't stay up for the whole thing (I have an 8 am class and so 10 pm is even a bit late for me) but what I saw was tremendously enjoyable.
Adam enjoys acting like a pirate too much. And they suggested that the idea that pirates wore eyepatches not to cover missing eyes (at least in some cases), but to keep one eye night-vision ready (for example, if they had to go below-decks), was entirely plausible.
But, on the other side, they disproved the possibility (outside the movies at least) of someone being able to stick a knife into a sail and use it as a way to quickly get down out of the rigging, sort of like rappelling.
