A couple of finished items:
First of all, the Duncan hat. Unfortunately it doesn't really show the little horizontal knit-purl rib in this picture that makes it cute.
The picture makes it look much more orange than it actually is, as well.
The yarn used was "Chunky Al," a 50-50 alpaca-wool blend. It's scratchier than some alpacas I've knit with but it works fine for a hat.
I also finished the one-skein scarf from "The Happy Hooker" last night:
Except it wasn't a one-skein scarf for me; it was one skein and a part. Oh well. I have most of a skein of pretty white Paton's Classic Wool left over. I think I'm going to use it to make the Beaufort hat out of it; then I'd have a hat that sort of matched the scarf.
I like the scarf, I like the color I used better than the green shown in the original. I think the white color makes the scarf look more neo-Victorian and less crunchy-hippie. And tho' I have a bit of earth-mama in me, I think I'm more neo-Victorian.

Lovely new knits, and I like your green vest a whole lot, too.
