Well, I called the Folio Society to see what if they could help.
The only good thing to come of this? I think I gave the Folio customer service rep her laugh of the day - sounded like a young West Indian or Caribbean woman, she kept giggling as I told my story. She apologized and said that the things weren't theirs (I kind of knew that but was grasping at straws) but she did seem to think it was amusing that the thing had happened.
So, what now? I'm not willing to search all past eBay auctions for these very items and then e-mail the seller to tell them. And I don't think I want to post on just general maillists because I think that's the way to get spammed - or worse - by people whose intentions are not as good as mine.
I guess I'll keep them for a bit in case some coincidence nets me the name of the rightful owner, and then donate them to the local used-book sale.
