Almost no trick or treaters tonight. I suppose that's because it's quite cold (the first really cold day/night of the fall) and rain was threatening.
I have a bunch of little packs of M&Ms and tiny little kit kat bars left. I guess I'll take them into the department (like everyone else will tomorrow) because if I keep them here, I'll eat them.
I knit on the "stuffie" cat while waiting for trick or treaters. I learned another thing about this yarn - it rips out pretty easily too when you make a mistake. (Sigh.)
the head is done and the body is almost done (first leg done). No pictures, I feel like in-progress shots are kind of lame unless they show some useful technique. And there are literally hundreds of faster knitters out there (cough Wendy cough) who seem to complete a sweater a week, so if you want finished-object pictures, just go there.
I've also been working on the Paton's Classic Wool crochet scarf but realized last night that I had been using the big hook for all of it; you were supposed to just do the foundation row with the big hook. I am still debating whether to rip the hundreds of double-crochets out and start anew with the smaller hook or whether to just trust that there's enough yarn in the ball that I'll be able to finish it despite having used a larger hook. Because the chances of getting a ball or partial ball of the same dyelot are probably slim to none unless I drive back to the Michael's in Longview and that ain't happening. (And I think I no longer have the ball band with the dyelot).
I hate when I do stuff like that. I feel like an idiot for not reading the directions more carefully, and I LOATHE ripping back something that is (technically speaking) correctly done - hours and hours of work-time erased. It's too much like writing grant proposals or journal articles where you finish the thing and send it off and it comes back ripped to shreds and you have to redo it...
