Ordinarily healthy people forget what being sick is really like. I feel like I'm more complainey and miserable than I SHOULD be. (thoughts that went through my head: "should I be this tired?" "Gah, I can't breathe...I can't breathe," "My back hurts like crazy...is that normal with a cold or could it be something worse?"). Ordinarily I'm one of those annoying people who breezes through the stomach-virus outbreaks or through flu season without even being slowed down. So having a cold alternately makes me hypochondriacal ("could this be turning into strep?") and irritated with myself ("Just gut up. It's a stupid cold. You should not be so fatigued with a stupid cold.")

Vick's Vapo-rub is a small miracle though. I can't take decongestants because they tweak me out. So I used some of that last night and was able to breathe well enough to sleep pretty well.

I got the second sleeve done and attached to the Hourglass sweater last night. Now all that's left are the raglan decreases of the yoke. I'm contemplating going ahead and swatching for the grey alpaca cabled hoodie. (Did you see Rachael's version of this pattern? Beautiful. And I love it buttoned up. I'm definitely doing the button-band version for mine. Alas, I don't think the pattern's quite right for any of the vintage Czech glass buttons I've accumulated, nor for the La Mode reproduction buttons. But I'll find SOMETHING cool to use as buttons for it. I have good button juju.)

It's getting noticeably cooler here and that makes me happy. I can begin to think of fall and wearing fall sweaters and spending long rainy Saturday afternoons reading on the couch.

I hope that you feel better soon; that sounds like a really annoying cold. Summer colds always somehow feel more wretched than winter ones.
