Well, today is the Day of All Meetings.
I have a meeting at 9, one at 10, and one at 2.
Is anything useful going to happen in these meetings? Well, perhaps in the 2 pm one. But the others are basically "rah rah" meetings. And I react to them much the way I reacted to pep rallies in junior high and high school (though I don't remember that many pep rallies in high school).
I feel like, if they need to EXHORT us to be excellent, something's wrong. If we're not already pushing ourselves to be the best we can be (and agonizing over it when we're not, when we give in to laziness or frustration), well, then, we're in the wrong business. We might as well move into a cubicle and start planning how we're going to defend the necessity of our job to Bob and Bob, and also start filing TPS reports and teasing Milton about his red stapler.
But still I go to the "rah rah" meetings. Because I still can't quite shake the feeling that if I was noted absent, it would go in my Permanent Record.
I worked on different things this weekend. The newest socks please me immensely and once I get a bit further (it's a complex stitch pattern that takes a while to show up), I'm going to post a picture of them. I'm tentatively calling them Grecian Column Socks, even though the columns are neither Doric, Ionic, nor Corinthian. (and actually, they have a cable turn in the pediment. Something not doable in marble, I suppose).
I also knit some on the sleeve for the Hourglass Pullover. I'm already thinking ahead, thinking to "what's next" among the sweaters. I have so many yarns and projects ahead. Samus is still there, the band of it just stalled out. I will probably pick that back up some time and work more on it. And I think about the neat zig-zag pullover vest from the Spring '05 Interweave (what an issue that was! Very high proportion of things I want to make).
And I'm also tempted, but unlikely to give in at the moment.
I've wanted to make the Burma Rings pullover for a long time. Partly because I like 1824 Wool, and partly because I just think it's a cool looking design. I ALMOST bought the yarn for it when 1824 Wool went away a year or so ago, but didn't.
But now that 1824 Wool is back (and in the same colors, saints be praised), the temptation arises again.
I WOULD have bought it from Yarn Forward because I have a Super (SUPER!) Sekrit (SECRET!) Coupon (COUPON!) Code (AAAAAAAAAGGGGHHH!) good for this month. But they don't have the colors called for - and this is one time when I want to make the sweater Exactly. As. Indicated. (rare for me).
So I guess I'll hold off a bit more, hopefully knit up a few more things, and then consider again. But I reserve the right to order the yarn on a dime if I get wind of 1824 going away again....
