"Oxygen is a loving atom compared to hydrogen"
--from a student paper.
(I presume it is a mnemonic device she's using to remember that water is polar because the electrons get pulled towards the oxygen).
Oh, when my internal editor is away I say things like that all the time. Atoms and molecules have personalities, because if they didn't they'd just be little letters and numbers.
Oxygen *is* loving. Not like that greedy b*stard fluorine.
