I've been working some on the poppy-fabric quilt. I have about 2/3 of the blocks done.
(The pattern is called "County Lines." I bought it at Quilt Asylum.)
I'm doing (eventually) a twin bed size.
Here are some of the blocks.
I like that it has kind of an Asian-inspired/Frank Lloyd Wright feeling. When the quilt is done, there will be the black fabric between all the individual blocks as a sashing, and then there is a large-scale old-gold background poppy print that will be the border.
I also think this pattern would make a really pretty quilt with those mottley-colored batik fabrics and black sashing. Hm. I may have to invest in some batik fabrics and a couple more yards of solid black because that really does sound like it would be gorgeous.
Here is a close-up, showing the fabrics a little better.
These are different colors than what I usually work with - I don't usually use this much orange. But I think it's turning out well.

very nice, i really like the way the black borders show off the bright reds and oranges.
how do you get these things done so fast? i have all of 3 blocks done for a quilt (i bought the fabric >2 months ago) of course i am totally new at this and it takes me forever to measure and cut...the sewing should be faster...i hope
anyway, can't wait to see yours all put together
