busy, busy, busy, busy.
Not much new to report. If I were wanting to post pictures, they'd all be in-progress shots.
I'm working on the first sleeve of the Hourglass pullover while doing some reading at night. Why is it, even though sleeves are narrower than the body (and generally not as long), that they seem to take more time?
I've also reinstituted the New Rule that was New last fall (spend between an hour and an hour and a half per day doing some kind of research related work: data collection, project planning, reading, whatever). I am allowing myself to knit on simple things while I read, because it keeps me better focused and it does seem to enhance the memory of what I've read. So I've begun carrying the two "simple socks" I'm working on (the Caribic socks to eventually go in the Dulaan box and a pair of ribbed socks - for me - out of Mega Boots Stretch). I've decided if anyone sees me knitting and comments on it, I'll explain - we have enough people around the university with odd work-requirements that I can't imagine anyone disbelieving my claim that I remember better and work harder if I knit and read at the same time.
I want to start something new though. But I really need to clear out some of the backlog of in-progress things. I know I have too many projects when I forget about stuff I'm working on - last weekend while cleaning house, I got to thinking: where's my fall '06 Interweave? I just had it, now it's gone.
which escalated to: oh, crud, I hope I didn't put it in the stack of magazines that went out.
And then I thought: shoot, I really liked some of the stuff in that issue. Maybe I'll have to order a replacement copy.
I did find it again - stuffed in a canvas bag with the project I'd started from it (the Target Wave Mittens). D'Oh.

Maybe a little Dulaan hat or headband? That's my fallback thing for interstitial times or "I need to look at something else for a while"-type projects. And it uses up oddballs which feels useful.
