To start the day, here's a little yarn cheesecake shot*

newsockyarn.JPG

This is the new sockyarn I bought on Saturday. It's a warm pinkish tan with pink, rose, and sort of a robin's-egg-blue color. It's very pretty - it makes me think of some of the semiprecious stones out there, like rose quartz and turqoise. I'm going to do a lace rib pattern with it from my Harmony knitstitch book. The particular pattern is called Perforated Rib. Right now, I'm just setting up a welted rib (k3 p1 k1 p1) with will eventually shift into the perforated rib.

(*some knitters refer to this as yarn p*o*r*n. I don't like that terminology. It's probably just me, but to me, that word calls up images of lonely people sitting in darkened rooms watching other people do things they wish they were doing. To me, that word suggests something kind of furtive and sad. But, to me, "cheesecake shot" or "pin-up" is more sassy and saucy and funny - and bawdy rather than truly dirty. It's kind of the difference between the old "burleque girls" who were kind of in charge of the situation and actually showed far less than people imagined they did, and the modern "exotic dancer" where the main point is to get naked fast and do things like l*p d*nces for money, and where there seems to be less control on the woman's part - where she's more of an object than a participant. But whatever. I prefer to call it yarn cheesecake.)
