New Knitty is up.

The one pattern that immediately caught my attention is the nautiloids. Pretty awesome. (Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the other patterns are nice, but that was the one really amazing and innovative thing that I'd actually knit...pedicure socks may be innovative, but as I don't even bother to polish my toenails any more [too much maintenance and when you spend much of your summer time in hiking boots, what's the point?], they're not that exciting to me.)

(And the person who wrote the pattern [a new blog to me], also has a free clownfish and sea anemone pattern up on her blog...so if you're a big big fan of sea critters and knitting critters, you can totally go to town.)

I am SO making a natiloid, as soon as I get a few of the ongoing projects done. I even have some big spooky (15 mm) teddy bear eyes that I bet would be just the right size...I love the spooky mammalian quality of squid and octopus eyes, and I suppose nautiloids have/had similar eyes.

Oooh, I bet the shell would look really neat if you had the right colors of a self-striping yarn...just like a real nautilus.
