As I think I commented last year, "spectacularly unprepared for some football."

You know, I almost planned a shopping trip this weekend, for after I got my exam and my quiz typed? And then I remembered the "Big Game" (of which advertisers are not allowed to say the real name, or else they have to pay some money to the copyright holders of that Big Game's name.) And I thought: Traffic on the highway of people running out to buy big screen tv's (yes, it happens: this weekend is the biggest one for big-screen sales). Target full of people gearing up for the "Big Game." Albertson's and Kroger's and even worse, my local Mart of Wal (heh...stole that from Alexandra). Seriously, I went to Mart of Wal a year or two ago right before this very game, and I still have psychic injuries.

So I guess I will be making do with what groceries I have at home this weekend.

And I also feel like doing some sewing, which I probably wouldn't have the time or energy for after fighting the crowds. I've got a variety of pajama-type fabrics on the shelf, my most recent purchase being a hot-pink flannel with retro-style black cats on it. I have a pajama pattern - my plan is to make the pants and to applique one of the cats onto a long-sleeved plain t-shirt for the top. I've also got some with cute, almost Tare Panda-esque pandas on it, and I have some cotton with multicolored sheep leaping over fences. I'm going to look at the Panda fabric and see if I have enough for a whole set of short pajamas, or, failing that, make a nightshirt. The sheep will probably be made like the cat pajamas, with a pair of drawstring pants and a short-sleeve t-shirt that will get a sheep appliqued on it. (I think I will probably BUY the t-shirts; they're inexpensive enough and my machine doesn't sew knits all that well).

(And speaking of weird-cute? Tire Dog. 'Tis a dog with his head stuck in a tire. I really would like to know if the San-X stuff is simply untranslatable cultural differences between (I think it is) South Korea and us, or if there's some kind of bizarre drugs their designers are on. Even if I admit to liking Kogepan, I still find the characters kind of inscrutable)

Um, yeah -- don't try to go to a fabric/crafts store the day before the Big Game, either. They're jammed with people buying supplies for the project they're planning to work on while the others in the family watch football....
