Two spam-related observations:
1. I can tell it's January because of the sharp uptick in dieting/fitness related spam. (I suspect Hoodia is going to be the next "herbal supplement" banned by the government for causing deaths and general hyperness - like ephedra did). Also noticed a sharp uptick in Jenny Craig and other such establishments advertising - especially on the Food channel. (and Food Network's "healthy cooking bloc"? Feh. I really don't want to watch someone poach fish or steam broccoli, even if I were eating that way. Bring on Paula Deen)
2. Sometimes it's unintentionally funny. Two spam mails today, one right under the other: "Intimacy is an important part of any union" "Get Free Lysol Scrubbing Wipes."
Or maybe I'm the only one who finds that juxtaposition funny.
also, from the recent National Geographic: being in love ("infatuation") triggers some of the same brain chemistry that OCD does. Now, I've only been in what I would regard as truly infatuated-love once in my life, but remembering how it felt now, that TOTALLY makes sense to me. (Perhaps part of the reason I've remained fairly free of romantic entanglements is that, frankly, that giddy out-of-control feeling, while pleasant at first, is a bit too unsettling for me to sustain very long).
