I think I figured out part of the reason for the pain. We are once again under the evil Dome of High Pressure, and high pressure just makes me hurt. And the weatherdude said this morning that the air pressure was going to be unusually high today, close to a record. Ugh. (And I have three meetings today, optimally spaced so that it is unlikely I will manage to fit in either a proper lunch or a proper dinner).

But let's not talk of that. Let's talk of Hiawatha.

I finished the band of Pine Tree Lace for the second half, and I'm almost done with the band of Smoke of the Peace Pipe for the second half. Then, it's Starlight, and then the side panels again. And once I've finished that, it's something new! The edging!

I'm already beginning to think about the next shawl. I'm torn between doing the Wool Peddler's Shawl in the laceweight alpaca (that may have been a poor choice; the shawl in the book looks like it's made more from a fingering weight. But we'll see.). The other one I'm thinking of is another Hazel Carter shawl called "The Rosy-Fingered Dawn," which draws its inspiration from Greek mythology and the names of the four winds. Or maybe I'll do the The Sheep Shawl out of the nice fluffy mohair next. (I have to admit I like the idea of using a "thicker" yarn for a change in a shawl.)

But then again, I want bright colors, and the fluffy mohair is a cream to taupe variegated, and the laceweight alpaca is fall foliage colors.

I hope that you feel better soon.

I love the Hazel Carter shawl. Would you do it in all the same color or in a progression?
