Well, an inspection of my various wool sweaters and shawls last night failed to turn up any damage or webs or larvae. And a further check of another sector of the stash didn't turn anything up either. I may have caught this very early, which is good.

I'm going to triage things. The first items to get "solarized" are going to be my sweaters and shawls - the already-finished items. Then, I'm going to do yarn based on how likely I have a project in mind for it. (The single, offending ball of Debbie Bliss wool is in my freezer right now - I'm going to do a couple freeze-thaw cycles on it in the hopes of killing any larvae that might be there, because I think I need it to repair the lion cub. Funny how the m*ths seemed to gravitate to one particular yarn - and one color of it (yellow) at that - I have some tan of the same wool and it's, as far as I can determine, clean.)

I'm thinking in my main stash-room, which still seems to be secure, I may just spray well with pyrethrin and hope it's good. (Most of the "stash" in that room is quilt fabric any way, which seems to be less of a target. And most of the wool in there is closed up in big plastic bins.)

And this was all after my Monday evening class. On Mondays, I am on campus for 12 hours. That is Not Fun. Tuesday mornings I'm really tired - even if I get a full night's sleep. I think there's some kind of allergen over here at my office that's not present in my house. (And besides, hanging around in my office for that long is sort of depressing - the chairs are ergonomic but not comfortable in the way my sofa at home is, and it's hard to get a decent drink of water, nearly impossible to make tea...)

And how does a person deal with all that kind of stress?

By starting a new project!

When I was doing stash-inspection yesterday evening, I turned up the two balls of Andean Silk I had bought to make another pair of the armwarmers from SnB Nation. (I wanted to try them in a light solid color to see if the stitch-patterning showed up better).

I'm not calling them "hurry up spring" armwarmers, I'm calling these "Hurry up fall so I can wear these" armwarmers. (It's cooler right now, but not much. Certainly not what I'd consider acceptable fall weather).

And here's a shot of the current "simple socks":

They are even more purple than the picture shows (I had to take the picture with flash). Obnoxiously purple, almost. (I always think of the old Donny and Marie show when I make purple socks - wasn't there a running joke about Donny and his purple socks?)

just thought you'd get a kick out of this. there is a yahoo group called All Crafters 4 Charity, and this month the challenge was as many booties as possible, and purple ones at that, because one of the moderators went to see donnie osmond, and actually used to work for the osmond family years ago! the only purple socks i remember donnie wearing had glitter to them!
