Thanks for the suggestions on odds and ends of yarn.

Sometimes I just look at my stash and go "I'd like to blow out all the stuff that's not project-designated" but I never actually do. (My stash is a big mess - I have a large walk-in closet I use but you can't really "walk" in there any more. It's also the home to my slacks, skirts and blouses, and to my quilting fabric, and to some of the "overflow" books that don't currently have a home on shelves in my house proper.)

The dental appointment is over. That's about all I can say about it. Part of it is that I hate what a big wimp I am - no matter how hard I try, I still squeeze out a few tears as I feel the needle going in. (I had several bad, bad experiences with needles as a child, including being shot up with penicillin - in the butt - by a nurse using the wrong-gauge needle, and also including a dentist trying to "sneak" up on me with a syringe of Novocaine, but he didn't bank on how good my peripheral vision was). I wish I could just walk in, open my mouth, and let them work, without tears or squealing or closing my eyes, and without my heart rate doubling.

And even though my whole darn jaw was numb, the stupid tooth still didn't get totally numb, so when the dentist got close to the nerve, I screamed, even though I was trying hard to control my responses. (He said: "Is that tooth still not numb? We have something we can give you" and I mumbled through the pain and the mouthful of tools: "NO. NO MORE NOVOCAINE" and I toughed out the rest of the drilling).

(And I went home afterwards and looked at the calendar and kind of dopeslapped myself for choosing the single week out of the month when I am most pain-sensitive to have dental work done).

My sympathies on the dentist, and the filling. I had a cleaning and filling Monday at 8 a.m. and it was noon before the novacaine wore off. I needed a lot of it for a teeny-tiny little cavity.

Personally, I believe dentists are the spawn of satan. I don't like them, I don't trust them and it's all I can do to go to one. Good thing my teeth are in good shape.
